Owls

Friends working together to build a masterpiece!
A little engineering with the blocks.
It's all about owls this week.
It was a very rainy day when we went to Seattle Children's Theater!
How many ways can you make 10?

We got a little help from our Peacock friends writing stories.

They even worked on some math with us.

We've been learning about owls.

We graphed different kinds of owls.
It's math and science . . .
. . .in a way that the children find interesting and challenging.
This has been a terrific couple of weeks in the Ladybugs.  We've been to a play, had a party and had the big kids in our room to help us.  The children have been totally engaged in learning about owls and representing this learning in different ways.  We have used art, math, the smart board and children's literature to learn new things about owls.  STEM is alive and well and informing learning in the Ladybugs!  Next up. . . spiders!

One of the best things about Seabury!

On the 1st Friday of the month we get together as a whole school,
we mix up the classes,
and get to try new things in different classrooms.
Sometimes you meet a new friend,
and that friend is older or younger than you,
they sit with you and read to you,
they listen to you
and they are very kind.

Halloween Party!

We had a terrific Halloween Party!  Thanks to all our parent volunteers for putting this together for us!

Farm Science

Using playing cards to practice less than and greater than.

Ladybug pumpkin patch and cafe

We brought apples, pumpkins, potatoes and sunflowers back from our trip to the pumpkin patch.  We spent the next day exploring our finds.  We measured, drew pictures, wrote facts, used microscopes and magnifying glasses, scales and tweezers to investigate our treasures.
