Happy Spring Break!

We're working on sorting using Venn diagrams,
it's a hard concept but the kids did a great job.
We made snakes with our mentors,  we balanced them on skewers
and tried to make them spin.

Our other group of mentors worked  with
the Ladybugs and Bumblebees to write stories.  We had some very exciting stories!

Keeping our fingers crossed for a sunny Spring Break!

We love Science Fair at Seabury!  Our youngest students were so excited to come up with their first projects and share them with the rest of the school and parents.  They did a fabulous job of explaining their questions, the procedures for testing their questions and finally, their conclusions.
In honor of the holiday, a special leprechaun picture!

Science fun!

This week we made airplanes with our mentors,
not your typical paper airplanes,
but ones made of circles and a straw.
We had some amazing flights with our planes,

then we raced them!

We're finishing up our investigation of surface tension,
This experiment is always very exciting!

Sometimes, we even have a quiet moment with a good book.

Seabury celebrates Chihuly!

The pre-k, kindergarten and first grade have been learning about Tacoma native Dale Chihuly. During art class they have looked at his sculptures, watched videos of how his stained glass work is made, and looked at his vessels, called Maachia. The students made their own art work based on Chihuly’s glass, as they will tell you, part one, two and three. The kids are super excited about their “Chihulys” and will follow up their classroom study with a visit to the Museum of Glass to see his work and watch how glass is blown in the Hot Shop.
