First Day!

It was a busy first day in the Ladybug class.  There were lots of things to explore and investigate, snack to eat and recess with our new friends.  We're looking forward to another good day tomorrow!

Books and Balloons

Already this week we've had the big kids in to read the work of our young authors.  Each of the Ladybugs had at least one book to share with our visitors.  The kids were so proud of their work. Then today the big kids came back to join us for a little physics illustrating Newton's Third Law.

Beach Day 2015

What could be better than a sunny day at the beach?  We enjoyed a day of sun, fun and pizza on the beach at Dash Point State Park.

Plants and Butterflies

We're finishing up some of our class projects as we come to the end of the school year.  Our beans and peas are growing and we released 3 butterflies that came to our classroom as larva.  We've been eating lunch outside on some of the beautiful days we've been having.

We love the beach!

This picture might just look like two kids at the beach.  Let me tell you what I see:  two Seabury students, one from the pre-k class and one from our fourth grade.   These kids were happily exploring the beach at low tide.  This is the perfect example of education at Seabury; multi-age groupings when appropriate, big kids respecting little kids, hands on learning, and field study to reinforce classroom learning.  These are some of the things we do really well!

I saved this picture from our recent visit to the beach because I think it says important things about how we teach at Seabury.

Minus tide at the beach!

The kids have been working so hard on their hardcover books.

What could be better than kids on the beach?
