It was a fun day in the Ladybugs! We had Cat in the Hat hats, wore our pajamas, had pancakes, strawberries and hot chocolate for snack, did some fun Dr. Seuss activities and read with the Serpent class. We even played with a little oobleck before we went outside and played in the sunshine at recess. It was a good day!

We're going to the zoo, zoo, . . . .
This zoo docent told us a lot about elephants and he also helped us at the shark tank. |
This week we visited Point Defiance Zoo as part of our study of polar animals. We learned an amazing amount of information about penguins this past week and next week we'll be moving our focus to animals in the Arctic. We didn't get too wet at the zoo and we had the whole place practically to ourselves.

3, 2,1. . . Blast off!
This has been a week full of math and science in the Ladybug room. We are continuing our work on the planets and the moon, testing Newton's 3rd law with our rockets, and building 3 dimensional shapes out of 2 dimensional shapes. Lots of "hands on" and "think about it for a minute" kinds of work going on! The Serpents came to class on Friday and blew up the balloons for our rockets. We attached the balloon to the rocket, attached the whole thing to a fishing line and let the balloon go. The big kids were cheering as loud as the little kids as the rockets shot along the line to the other side of the room. Happy chaos!
