Big week for STEM!

We had 2 big STEM projects in our class this week.  Our Alchemist mentors helped us with a pumpkin exploration.  We weighted and measured them, counted the lines, drew them and finally checked to see if they would float.  By accident, we found out they also bounce.

Our Sphinx mentors worked on mazes with us.  The mazes had to be built out of something heavy enough that the Hexbugs couldn't move the walls.  It took a lot of teamwork to come up with a maze the bugs could navigate.

Pumpkin Patch

Yes, those are rain drops on the pictures.  Good thing we all wore boots and raincoats!  Wild Hare Farms always does a great job of teaching us about growing things on a farm.  We picked apples and carrots, fed the chickens and goats, found the perfect pumpkin and even had a hay ride on the tractor. It was lots of fun, even in the rain!

Welcome to pre-k!

I tried to edit out some of the pictures but I couldn't do it.  The pictures represent just a small portion of what happens during our week in pre-k.  We have lots of time for art and building, playing with friends, learning with older children and trying out technology.  These images show some of the best things about learning and growing in a small school where people really know your child and value them for the children they are.
