Welcome to the veterinary office!

Veterinary play, a consultation taking place.  Conclusion-broken ribs.

Our waiting room, complete with magazines (outdated, of course)

The intake nurse, she also gives shots.

We finally had to move on to human patients.

Learning about place value.

We love it when Ms. Suzanne comes to sing with us!
The community helpers are going strong in the Ladybug room.  The firefighters and police officers are busy at work and now the doctors have joined them.  The kids love exploring the jobs these community helpers do for us.  We've also been learning about spiders and owls with a bit of Thanksgiving thrown in.

Community helper-Police Officer

The Ladybugs continued their study of community with a visit from a Seattle police officer today.  He talked with the kids about the tools that he uses to do his job and the ways the police help to keep us safe.  We got to check out some of his tools and sit in the police car.   It was an exciting morning!

Reading with the Navigators

One of the best things about Seabury is our ability to get together with other classes to enhance the learning taking place in our classrooms.   Last week, the Stingrays came to our class to help with writing books.  This week we went to the Navigator class to read with the older kids.  Our kids read to the Navigators and the Navigators read to us.  It's a win-win situation for the kids, both classes get to practice reading and it's a great boost to the confidence.

Math in the Ladybugs

Math in the Ladybugs, using our giant number line to solve math equations.

Including physical movement with math concepts increases the likelihood that the children will retain the information.

Our new iPads provide a different form of math practice.

Number bingo, a useful tool for number recognition.

Marble painting-it's a full body workout!

We started building our community this week.  These friends are starting a police station.

We needed a Starbucks.

Princess store.
Bus driving company.
The whole world.

Our community is under construction in the Bumblebee classroom.  The kids designed signs for the businesses they are going to run.  They are very enthusiastically planning what they might need.

There were eleven in the bed. . . .

It really doesn't get any cuter than this!  Check out the video we made to go with our class book.

Happy Halloween

Getting dressed for the party.

Lots of treats and moms to help us!

The all school picture for Halloween.
We are really getting into our community helpers.  These kids are writing tickets.   I am usually the recipient.
We are using the new iPads for math practice.

We had a wonderful Halloween party thanks to all our parent volunteers.  The children were dressed in fun costumes and enjoyed every minute of the party.   We are putting our new iPads to good use in the classroom.  This week we added a couple of new math apps and a reading app.  The iPads allow us to work at different levels with each child.  While 3 children are using the iPads, we can work one on one with other children.  They are going to be useful tools in the classroom as we learn more ways to use them to support learning in the Ladybug class.
