A day at the beach

The weather was great!

The sea-life was plentiful.

We made a good group!

We took lots of friends with us.

It was a perfect day at the beach.

We even had a picnic.

After lunch, there was even time for sandcastles.

And then there was clean up!  We had sand everywhere!
The Ladybugs (and their friends) visited Dash Point State Park on Friday for a minus tide.  We loved that the water was so far out and that many of the sea animals we had been learning about were visible on the beach.  The sun was shining and we were almost the only people on the beach.  We were able to run and dig and splash and yell and it was great!   We found clams, crabs, moon snails, kelp, jellyfish, sand dollars and gooey ducks.  I think everyone had wet, sandy feet and a smile on their face.

Spring at Seabury

A sunny day calls for a trip to the field for a little soccer!

These brothers both received certificates for the President's Physical Fitness Award.
Healthy eating and exercise must run in the family!

As we near the end of the school year, there are lots of activities to look forward to.
Coming up next week is Math Night.  We hope you are planning to attend!

Auction project

Our auction project was a winner!   The children worked so hard on the quilt and it turned out just beautiful!   The class alphabet book is sure to be a best seller!  Thanks to our auction rep and her helpers for all their hard work on our behalf.   You are appreciated!

A good week!

Reading with Mrs. Wollum  (there are usually jelly beans involved)

working on line sculptures

The Octopi class shared their "Fortunately, Unfortunately" stories

new equipment!  We're enjoying the new Lego/train table that was donated to us.

Lucky us!  The parents of one of our middle schoolers donated a table we can use for building, Legos and cars.  We're feeling very fortunate!   The kids are loving it.

It's just been a good week.  We've worked hard on geometric shapes, word families, number lines, estimation, and beginning sounds.  We are enjoying some new equipment and toys in the classroom, the intermittent return of the sun and just being together!

Teamwork

The Ladybugs are working on time to the hour and half hour.

We've had lots of visitors checking us out for next year.  Our kids have been great hosts!

As part of math in the Ladybugs, we have been writing surveys and then going out into the neighborhood to gather data.

Who would have thought that we would find a dog on a roof?  That's going on the next survey sheet.   Several of the children have already drawn our next surveys.  They love this kind of work.

Math games with the Sharks.

Some of our Creator friends came to help us write books in the morning.

Then in the afternoon, a few Octopi stopped in to help us finish up the books.

We love working with the older kids.
One of the best things about Seabury is the flexibility we have to work together as a team.  When the Ladybugs need a few extra hands, I just have to ask and the other teachers loan us some helpers.  The younger kids love working with the older kids and the older kids really "get" the Ladybugs.  They are patient and kind to the kids.  Both groups of kids feel good about the interaction and I get the help I need to finish a project.  The same dynamics happen when one of the teachers says, "I have a great math (science, social studies or art) activity.  The children all benefit from the enthusiasm from the staff as we get to share our ideas.  The best things happen at Seabury when we all work together for the good of the kids!
